Kevin Lee, Manager of Performance Assessment Team, General Medical Council

"Professional Role Players Ltd are key to the success of our Clinical Skills Examination. They provide an excellent, reliable service with skilled and professional role players. Since starting work with us they have fostered a close working relationship to ensure they are meeting our needs by running feedback sessions and giving written reports after each examination. PRP work hard to standardise their role players by fully supporting them with briefing sessions and advice. PRP are a pleasure to work with."

Kate Newland, Director of Examinations and Assessment, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

“As undergraduate medical education manager for our Trust, I have been using the services of Professional Role Players since September 2009. PRP provides role players for teaching of psychiatry-specific communication skills to year 4 medical students on rotation as part of the medical degree programme.

Over the years students have found the sessions to be invaluable in learning how to ask difficult questions in a safe environment before going on placement. The role players come well-trained and equipped to handle nervous and questioning groups of students and feedback is constantly good. We also use PRP to provide role players for our OSCEs. Again, PRP ensure the role players have been adequately trained with instructions to stick to the script to ensure reliability across the day for all the students to be examined. Role players are asked to give written feedback on the questions which is then sent to our exam team to help in reviewing questions for future iterations of the exams- a very valuable exercise which the role players are always happy to participate in. PRP have given our students exceptionally high quality teaching in communication skills specifically for mental health training and supported final year assessments for many years.

Other providers have been auditioned, but none have been able to give the quality and reliability that PRP have shown.”

Sian Caesar, Undergraduate Medical Education Manager, University of Birmingham

"We are very pleased with the service provided by Professional Role Players. Involving professionally trained actors has greatly improved the standardisation of the examination. The support from the team has been marvellous, all information is provided promptly and all role players arrive at the venues fully rehearsed."

Anchelle Condor-Brown, Examination Scenario Committee Administrator, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health

It is always a great pleasure working with PRP – the planning and admin is always friendly and efficient, and the role players a delight to work with. Our students consistently rate their session with PRP role players as the highest on the course, and that is in large part down to the professionalism and approachability of the actors.

Dr Graham Easton, International Tutor & Lead for Health & Society, King’s College London

"I have always been impressed with the professionalism and skill of the role players provided by PRP. I have experience with working with the role players in both formative and summarise assessments as well as in simulation based learning scenarios.

The role players have always arrived in good time to review the scenarios.

The role players are always very keen to reflect with trainers/educators so to ensure the characters are portrayed in a way that achieves training objectives/goals. The role players willingly participate in post-scenario debriefing sessions providing useful/empathic insights into subtle communication skills. This is regularly fed back by learners as being extremely helpful to aid reflection and develop competence in non-technical skills such as communication.

The customer service provided by the PRP team is excellent. As a medical educator, I am very fortunate to have PRP as a resource to call upon."

Dr Geoff Lawrence-Smith, Joint Director of Medical Education/GP & Foundation Trainee Tutor, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

"PRP are a pleasure to deal with! Our requests are always responded to promptly, even when making last minute bookings and the actors are of the highest quality."
