How It All Began

PRP was founded by Phill Doulton, a professionally trained actor from Rose Bruford College, London’s renowned drama school. Phill’s early work involved using drama to support people with mental health challenges and learning difficulties — experiences that revealed just how powerful role play can be in driving behavioural change.

In 1992, he pioneered the first communication skills training programme at Guy’s Hospital, King’s College London. The overwhelming success of this initiative led to the founding of PRP in 1997 and the start of a new era in experiential learning.

Today, PRP is recognised as a leader in role play-based communication training and assessment.
