Breaking Bad News is a one day course designed to handle some of the most difficult encounters in medicine. Whether that be the confirmation of the death of a patient to the request for organ donation, there is no easy way to deliver this information, but there are many ways to cause further distress.
Professional role Players are used to bring realism, honesty and productive encounters to this course. The added edge of the ‘unknown behaviours’ is the best way to make these difficult encounters a success. Mistakes can be made in this safe environment, recognised and rectified. This is a rewarding programme, designed to take advantage of the highly professional skills of our role players. Honest, supportive and productive feedback will be delivered after each encounter. There will be small group work with an opportunity to experiment and put into practice the teaching at the start of the day.
You will be given a DVD of your encounters during the day. We will follow up with a ‘one to one’ meeting if required.
