SituationProfessional role Players were asked to design an innovative training day for SASGs. This unique course was aimed at motivating and addressing doctors who were wishing to become consultants. This interactive training day was purposefully designed to challenge individuals overall performance, checking out the diverse range of skills that any consultant needed in this position. SolutionAfter the range of challenges were written, which included breaking bad news, peer review, presentations, team work and panel interviews, to name but a few. Fourteen trainees arrived for an exciting, rewarding and stimulating day. We utilised the skills of highly experienced role players to capture the realism. We recorded all the interactions and gave informative and productive feedback. ResultAll the participants gave positive and very rewarding feedback, taking away life-long new skills. All were amazed by the level of realism and came away feeling much better about their future interviews. A DVD was sent out to them and follow up one to one meetings were going to be arranged. |
