Situation: A major bank wished to discover training requirements for their management teams by using a unique format. We set up a simulated bank and devised challenges which were observed throughout the day.
Solution: Each participant was designated an office space with carefully designed tasks scheduled for completion in their ‘In tray’. These tasks were time tabled and devised to reflect a day in their new management role. Apart from having written objectives they were given interactive role play sessions. They included, meeting a senior with a problem, handling an appraisal with a twist, selling a product to a potential new customer and all these challenges were observed throughout the day. Feedback was given towards the end of the day by each of the role players on a one to one basis. Results This successful design ran over many months and was used to incorporate a very large percentage of teams throughout the UK. The consistency of the role players throughout meant that the observers could ascertain exactly what the individual participants needed to concentrate on to improve their overall skills. |
